Thanksgiving Day- a holiday with plenty of different traditions for many of us, especially here in Santa Monica. While some look forward to feasting on giant plates of delicious turkey with friends and family, others may be more interested in getting geared up for their Black Friday shopping. But what exactly does the city do to celebrate this quintessential holiday? Of course, we already know Santa Monica will always be the life of the party, so here are four incredible local events you can go to during the month of November to get into the giving spirit.
Thanksgiving dinner at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel
When it comes to Thanksgiving plans, it’s hard to go wrong with a turkey dinner complete with all the fixings. That being said, why not try to reinvent this classic holiday activity? At Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, you can! Enjoy a beautiful festive dinner right on the beach courtesy of the Blue Streak Restaurant at the luxurious Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. For more information about this event or to reserve your time slot, click here. Tickets start at just $35 per child ages 10 and under and $95 per adult.
Dogtown Coffee
Besides the holidays, this time of the year is also FIFA World Cup season, soccer’s biggest 5-week tournament. For us soccer fans in SaMo, that means huddling around a tv with a Santa Monica coffee in hand to watch fan favorites from all over the world battle it out for a win. It’s a tradition unlike the usual holiday-themed festivities, but still one we all look forward to catching every 4 years. That’s why Dogtown is thrilled to announce that we will be streaming every game at our Santa Monica cafe that occurs during store hours, from 7 am to 2 pm! That’s right, DTC is having a 5 week FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 watch party and everyone is invited to swing by and cheer on their team. Come join us!
Santa Monica Turkey Trot
Running a marathon on Thanksgiving morning is a yearly staple for many Santa Monicans. If this sounds like you, then this Turkey Trot is just the thing you’re looking for. No matter if you’d like to take a leisurley stroll to enjoy the stunning ocean views on this trot’s beach path or prioritize speed to beat your record, this marathon is all about achieving personal goals- just pick your distance (you can choose to participate in a 5k, 10k, 15k, or Half Marathon) and you’re ready to go! And the best part? By the end of the trot, you’ll have worked up a mean appetite for all the extra Thanksgiving treats your heart desires. Learn more about this event over on their official website!
Thanksgiving in Venice
Make a meaningful impact on your community by volunteering with Thanksgiving in Venice. At this event, you’ll be helping the local homeless community by joining other fellow volunteers in passing out warm Thanksgiving dinners, toiletries, and clothing items to those who may need an extra helping hand this holiday season. Not sure what to bring? Thanksgiving in Venice is asking volunteers to help supply physical donations in the form of cooked dishes and desserts, refreshments, serving gloves, paper plates, plastic utensils, trashbags, napkins, sunscreen, razors, bandages, shampoo and conditioner, soap, deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, backpacks, and new or gently used items to keep warm in the winter, like blankets, clothing, and shoes. At the end of the day, the holiday season is all about taking a moment to appreciate life, whether that means lending a helping hand to others, being grateful for your health, doing something you love, or spending quality time with family. Giving thanks certainly means something different to everyone, but luckily, Santa Monica will always have the ultimate lineup of events that accomplish exactly that.
